If you head northwest on I-16 and drive for about 45 minutes, you’ll come to the charming town of Statesboro, Georgia. Started in 1803, the town’s original population was less than twenty-five. Today, it is home to one the biggest colleges in the state, Georgia Southern University; with a student population of over 17,000. Although the town may be on the small side, it is full of charm and pride. The city slogan says it all: “Where the living remains softly southern.” Don’t let the size fool you. There are some great attractions to see and experience in Statesboro. The University is a trip in itself from their diverse athletic programs and games to the 11 acre Botanical Garden and the Center for Wildlife Education. Outside the school you’ll find enjoyable venues like a water park, driving range, arts center and more!
