Located about an hour and a half south of Savannah are the historic Golden Isles. Made up of four small islands, the largest in this cluster is St. Simons Island. With a long and rich history (the first inhabitants date back 2000 years before the time of Christ), this island is a day trip must! From the historical sites to the beaches to the shopping, the island is overflowing with things to do and see. It’s also a golfer’s paradise; including the neighboring islands and towns, there are over 200 holes to play! So whether you’re looking for a family outing or a romantic get-a-away, St. Simons Island makes for a picture-perfect day trip.
