This map allows you to search for places of interest and surrounding hotspots in town. We've made it easy for you to find places to eat around the hotel you are staying at, how to find places to shop within walking distance of where you are having lunch, and many other possibilities!
On left side of map, you will find three tabs. The Search tab offers several ways to narrow down exactly what you are looking for. The Results tab is where the results of your searches will be listed and the Route tab is a tool for you to build a route-based itinerary of places, complete with driving or walking directions.
This tab is where you'll specify the search criteria that will allow us to return only the places that you are interested in.
On the Search tab, which where your search will start, the first box searches locations by name. So if you know the name of the business you are looking for, you can start here.
The second search box allows you to see only the results near a particular location, just type in an address or intersection. The second box also offers a drop down menu where you can specify the distance that is searched, around your point of origin.
Below the second search box is a tool for you to manually choose a search focus. All you have to do is grab the pin we've provided for you and place it any where on the map. The address of the pin is automatically generated and from here you can begin to narrow your search down even further.
Don't forget that you can always zoom the map in and out, depending on how wide of an area you are exploring.
Before completing your search, don't miss the expandable list of categories with check boxes next to them. Click on the arrows or category names to expand and collapse that category. Click on the checkbox next to the categories you would like to search. For instance, if you check the
As you check and uncheck categories, you can keep an eye on the status of your search on the bottom of the page, where it will tell you how many matches will be returned for your current search criteria.
After you are satisfied with your search, click on the search button and your view will automatically be switched to the results tab where you will see a list of your results and their corresponding markers on the map.
From here, you can build a driving or walking route to several locations, or click around the markers on the map to see which businesses are close to your location and which ones you would like to visit.
Clicking the "add to route" link below the business name or in its popup info box will add that place to the end of your route. If your route is currently empty and the pin is on the map, the pin's location will be the starting point for your route, with the place added as your first destination. If the route has two or more waypoints then the map will automatically switch you to the Route tab and draw the route on the map. The route features will be explained in more detail further down this page.
Clicking the "use as search center" link below the business name or in its popup info box will center the search pin at that location and take you back to the Search tab so that you can modify your search and run it again. Note that if you want the current set of results to continue to show up after you search again, you'll need to click the "save search" link at the top of the search results. When you click the save search link you will be prompted to give that search a name. With the search renamed, its markers will be set to a new color and displayed in their own box to differentiate them from subsequent searches you make.
Clicking the "more info" link below the business name or in its popup info box will open the details page for that place in a new window or browser tab. Your map will not be lost, and to get back to it just close the window or tab that is opened. If you have any popup blockers running you may need to set them to allow this popup window. The details page generally has more information about the places than we have room for on the map, plus reviews and comments left by other users.
This tab lets you reorder or remove the waypoints you've added from the results tab and displays the turn-by-turn directions that will get you from point a to point b, c, d, and... well, you get the point. Every time you make a change to your route the turn-by-turn directions in the route tab as well as the green route markers and blue route line on the map will update accordingly.
Each new waypoint that you "add to route" will be added to the end of your route. If you'd like to change this order, simply click and hold your left mouse button down on the waypoint you need to reorder and drag it to the position you'd like it to be. If you need to remove a waypoint from your route, click the red "x" next to its name and address.
Downtown Savannah and Tybee Island are both very walkable areas, so we've provided a dropdown box that will allow you to specify whether you want driving or walking directions. Please note that the walking directions may indicate routes where there are no sidewalks and may not recognize our squares and footbridges.
