Tybee Island Museums

Tybee Island’s museums are must-see during your visit! No boring lectures or cassette audio tapes here.
The fun at The Tybee Island Marine Science Center begins as soon as you walk through the door. Baby alligators, tree frogs and toads are waiting for you to visit. With several different exhibit rooms to explore you’re sure to have a great experience. Everything from the Atlantic Octopus to the turtle crossing room awaits you at the Tybee Island Marine Science Center. Be sure to check out the touchtank where you can pick up and say hello to hermit crabs, horseshoe crabs and even spider crabs.
You also want to be sure and visit the Tybee Island Lightstation and Museum. Near Tybee Island’s North Beach, this lighthouse is over 270 years old and is known as one of North America’s most beautifully renovated lightstations. Though the tours are self-guided, the lighthouse keeper and his staff are available for any questions you may have.
